ServSafe® and the University of GA Cooperative Extensive Service

The Georgia Restaurant Association has joined forces with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service to provide Georgia’s food service industry with the best in food safety training.

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service has 33 county-based educators in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) who teach ServSafe® workshops in various locations throughout the state. These Extension agents are members of the University’s Public Service faculty and have obtained ServSafe® food protection manager certification. Extension has been offering ServSafe® manager and employee certification programs throughout the state since 1997.

Cooperative Extension provides research-based educational programs to Georgia citizens as part of the University of Georgia’s outreach to the state. Programming is offered in family and consumer sciences (including food safety and nutrition), agricultural and environmental sciences, and 4-H/youth development. Extension is administered by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and Warnell School of Forest Resources cooperating.
