The Georgia Restaurant Association is looking for cooks and food donations to assist in feeding people displaced by Hurricane Irma and those helping with clean-up efforts. There is a willingness to pay at cost for food. To contribute, call Mike Vaquer at (912) 655-3748.
Vaquer said Friday morning that the association is coordinating with city officials and state Rep. Carl Gilliard’s organization, Savannah Feed the Hungry, to arrange for storage and serving facilities, as they wait to find out what kind of impact Irma will have. Last year the effort led to more than 4,000 meals being served on the first day of the recovery, he said.
