We will have a central base camp with lunch and training that starts at noon that day and will ask that team captains report back to base camp before 5:00 p.m. We will train you on our message, mission and grants and will send you with printed materials and small gifts to hand out along the way.

This will be a quarterly event, so please let us know even if you can’t make this one, if it is something you are interested in.

    Expectations:
    • All volunteers are expected to arrive at 12:00 p.m., no later than 12:15 p.m.
    • Volunteers will participate in training and eat lunch until 1:00 p.m.
    • Volunteers will then be sent in teams or small groups to cover an assigned geographic area. You will have the support of the TGK staff, basecamp volunteers and team captains.
    • The day will done prior to 4:30 p.m. (or 5:00 p.m. for Team Captains).
    • Team Captains will be assigned an area and a team and will be responsible for tracking progress, keeping notes and feedback and returning all information, materials and new contacts to basecamp before 5:00 p.m.

The Atlanta Falcons season is here! Well, actually the preseason is here -- this Friday at 7 p.m. our Falcons will play the Miami Dolphins. TEAM Georgia had a kick off meeting with the Georgia Dome and Falcons leadership team earlier this week about our Designated Driver sign up goals for the 2014 season.

Last year, because of TEAM Georgia's amazing volunteers we signed up nearly 10,000 designated drivers. This year we want to break that record and lead the NFL in safe and sober driving stats.

Remember that in order to be eligible to volunteer at a Falcons game, music concert, or special event you must volunteer for at least one Braves game at Turner Field.

Also, the Braves will have 13 home games this month - we will be randomly selecting TWO more volunteers from the month of August to win gift certificates to a restaurant courtesy of our TEAM Georgia partners at the Georgia Restaurant Association. Winners for the month of July were Carol McIntosh and Edward Husband.

And finally we have two Atlanta Dream games and an Atlanta Steam game. And a special event on August 9th - the Steve Harvey 12th Annual Neighborhood Awards at Philips Arena.

Use the "button links" below to sign up for individual events at each venue, using ourVolunteerSpot online scheduling tool.

July is a crucial month for TEAM Georgia.  We have 17 home games starting next Monday. We are on track to sign up a record number of designated drivers, now that we have TWO booths open. However we need your help in volunteering to keep these booths open as fans stream into the stadium.

Volunteering is easy. We ask that our volunteers arrive at least 2 hours and 15 mins before the opening pitch. This gives us time to get the booth set-up and ready to engage fans once the gates open. The booth stays open until the end of the 2nd inning, at which time each volunteer will be given a meal voucher and directed to a seat to watch the remainder of the game.

As an added bonus for volunteers in the month of July, our partners at the Georgia Restaurant Associations have secured TWO gift certificates to the Concentrics family of restaurants, to be awarded on August 1st. Each time a person volunteers at the Coors Light booth they will be entered to win a gift certificate.

Remember also that in order to be eligible to volunteer at Falcons game or a music concert, you must volunteer for at least one Braves game at Turner Field.
Use the "button links" below to sign up for individual events at each venue, using ourVolunteerSpot online scheduling tool.

By donating, advocating, and volunteering for The Giving Kitchen, you can help make a difference. Below are just a few of the ways that you can get involved!

Please be our ambassadors for assistance.
If you hear of anyone in the industry facing unanticipated hardship, encourage them to apply or submit their information on our website and we will pursue all of the ways that we can assist them.

There are so many other ways to assist – from helping sell t-shirts at an event to becoming a restaurant advocate. We will be hosting a TGK day of service in the coming months. If you are interested in participating, please make sure that you have signed up on our volunteer mailing list to receive notices of opportunities. We have grant and program information that needs to be distributed to every restaurant in metro Atlanta, we have partner events that need champions to staff and attend, we need your voice to help spread our mission and to actively encourage your network to engage with the work that The Giving Kitchen is doing.

We are also throwing a volunteer appreciation and industry social on July 29th. If you currently work in the industry or if you have volunteered with TGK at any time, for any reason, going back to Team Hidi 1.0, please email Naomi@thegivingkitchen.org for tickets and information about this party.

The Atlanta Braves home opener is on , Tuesday, April 8th!

IMPORTANT:  To help ensure we stay on track for our Designated Driver pledges, TEAM Georgia would like to remind our volunteers that in order to be eligible to volunteer during a Falcons game (pre-season starts in August) you must volunteer for at least ONE Braves game or other Georgia Dome events, between now and September.

It is important that we continue to show strong support for our Designated Driver program at Turner Field throughout the rest of the season.

We need your help to continue delivering our important message to fans, about designating a driver for these events (see some our volunteers in action below). Check out our Facebook page for more photos from this years events!

Dining Out for Life, a benefit for Open Hand, is Calling all Volunteers!

Do you like to dine out? Do you like to help others? Then we need you! Wednesday April 23rd is Open Hand's 22nd annual Dining Out for Life. It takes hundreds of volunteers to ensure our success, and we would love to have your help!

There are 4 easy ways to get involved:

    1. Be an Ambassador
Serve as Open Hand's representative in a participating restaurant. Ambassadors will receive training and talking points in addition to a nifty Open Hand apron - yours to wear...and keep! There are four scheduled Ambassador trainings to choose from:
    April 3rd at 6:30 PM • April 5th at 2 PM • April 10th at 12 PM • April 14th at 6 p.m.

    2. Be a Host
Choose a participating restaurant and invite everyone you know to join you or dine on their own. We'll provide email invitation templates and all you have to do is 'send'...it's that simple!

    3. Choose a restaurant and Dine Out
If you can't be an Ambassador or a Host, choose a participating restaurant to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. At least 25% of your bill will come straight back to Open Hand.

    4. Donate
Already have plans on April 23rd and want to support Open Hand? Donations can be made securely online at any time.

Questions? Please call Jean Goffaux at 404-419-3333. www.DiningOutForOH.org
