Qualification for this award is based upon long-term active membership in the Association, active involvement in committee work, development of model codes and demonstrated promotion of the objectives of the Association. This award is presented each year at the Annual Educational Conference.
Mick was a founder of the “Partners with a Common Purpose” initiative. This concept recognizes public health and consumer service is a common purpose that can be a major driver of successful collaboration and innovation. The inaugural meeting was held in Burlington, Vermont during the AFDO Conference with food protection professionals and regulatory officials.

The Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), established in 1896, successfully fosters uniformity in the adoption and enforcement of science-based food, drug, medical devices, cosmetics and product safety laws, rules, and regulations.
