Brunch Bill

Restaurant Industry News,

The Georgia Restaurant Association (GRA) was instrumental in the passage of SB 17, also known as the Brunch Bill. After more than four years of working on this initiative with Georgia lawmakers, the bill passed out of the Senate on February 13, 2018 and passed out of the House on March 12, 2018.

Communities in Georgia can now choose if they would like to roll back Sunday on-premise consumption sales hours from 12:30PM to 11:00AM.

Any municipality that already has Sunday sales will need to have a ballot referendum to make the change, however, any community that does not have Sunday sales will be required to have two ballot referendums: 1) to vote 'Yes' or 'No' to implementing Sunday sales, and 2) to decide if their local time will be 11:00AM or remain at 12:30PM.

FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE BALLOT REFERENDUM LANGUAGE

"Shall the governing authority of [your municipality] be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.?"
